Hailing from Harrisburg, PA, the Very Fine Gentlemen are a jazz/funk instrumental group. The five long time friends are a who's who of their local music scene, and formed VFG in the fall of 2019. The Gents quickly began to churn out material that would stump any self-respecting genre- classifying search engine algorithm. While the standard jazz/funk moniker certainly applies, a quick listen to any of the group’s original selections quickly reveals intricate horn arrangements and lush keyboards that cross into any number of sub-genres. Michael Washkevich
Michael Washkevich grew up in South Jersey where he performed in various bands as a guitarist and drummer. He is a veteran of past Harrisburg mainstays such as Nowhere Quick and Brazilian Wax. When not playing with the Gents, he owns and operates MDW Productions, one of Central PA’s premiere recording studios. Mike provides the Very Fine Gentlemen with a unique guitar pallet crafting his sound using his synth rig that allows him flexibility to play traditional guitar sounds as well as organ, synth, clav, pads, and more.
Mike Evans
Mike Evans plays a plethora of woodwind instruments- many of them with VFG! You’ve likely heard his saxophone stylings on several different recordings with Big Tubba Mista, Nate Myers and the Aces, and Greatest Funeral Ever. When he’s not testing reeds, Mike can be found caring for his succulents or possibly juggling
Matthew Bowman
Trumpet and keys are covered by Matt Bowman. Matt has performed extensively throughout the US and Canada with groups such as The Tribulations and Little Anthony and the Locomotives, and has shared the stage with such artists as Bryan Beller, Joe Travers, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Ziggy Marley. Matt was an original founding member of Central PA Swing supergroup Big Tubba Mista. He enjoys several hobbies outside of the band including reading, chores, and moving various objects around his house using only his knees.
Jon Victor Rohrer
Jon holds down the bottom end and adds his brand of powerful bass artistry to the mix. You may have seen or heard Jonny Victor belt out tunes as the lead singer of the neo swing band Big Tubba Mista, as well as playing bass and guitar in various bands such as The Release, Bubba and All the Good People
Jim Bedorf
Jim Bedorf is one of the area’s most recognizable drummers, having logged stints with a variety of groups including Weapons for Peace, Don’t Sleep, and Big Tubba Mista. In his spare time, Jim can be found combing Realtor.com for new and exciting properties with ample storage and outbuildings.
